A few days ago, pharm I heard that Google, at the pressuring of the RIAA, went through another round of Blogger MP3 blog deletions. Thought nothing of it — as this isn’t the first time it’s happened — until earlier today, when I noticed that an ECR reader posted a comment about Zamboni Soundtracks, one of my recent favorites, having mysteriously vanished.

I checked it out, and yes-indeedy, Zamboni’s gone the way of the dodo.

Very sad, as I’d gotten a buttload of stuff I’ve recently enjoyed from Ian, the fine Bloomingtown, Indiana resident who ran the site. I’ve just placed an email to him (I’d been in correspondence with him in previous months), to see what the deal is. I’ll keep you updated.

Just a note, you can still access the site’s contents via Google. Google the site’s name and use the cached copy, that’s what I did when one of my favorite blogs was wiped.

Hot damn. I’ll join you in that moment of silence. Ian added some serious heft to my collection of tunes. Let’s hope he gets back online soon.

    Thanks for the update, Bret.

I was wondering where Zamboni Soundtracks had disappeared to… So sad to have my suspicions confirmed. The recently posted Nirvana compilation “Chosen Rejects” was killer – I had lots of folks asking about it after I played a couple tracks on my radio show here in Austin last week.

    sonofzamboni.blogspot.com is his backup.

  6. Nyal says:

That’s lame; I checked Zamboni pretty regularly. Good looking out on the back-up link, Percy. I’ve noticed a few others in my bookmarks are no longer active. Oh, well…a minor hassle of the worldwide cultural exchange, I suppose.

  7. Ian Zamboni says:

Howdy. Yeah, that backup works for now. Grab what you can, while you can!

I’m taking a break for a week or two or three and then I’m hosting the whole thing on my own.

    Anyway that’s the plan.

  8. Ian says:

please let us know where you go.. there are a lot of fans out there.

glad to hear we’ll have zamboni back.

in the meantime (not as a replacement) here is a goodie to browse thru while your waiting for your food to come out of the microwave (and wen yr not reading erc, ah coursh!)

I’m sorry to hear about Zamboni, Ian. You ran a superior blog.

Also just discovered another of the best has been removed, BIGFATSATANIST.blogspot. That one being taken down is particularly frustrating since it posted exclusively out-of-print material. without blogs like that, so much will be lost.

    Grazie di tutto. Ian!
Sentirò la tua mancanza, ritorna se puoi.

    Thanks for everything, Ian!
I shall miss thee, come back if you can.
