I’ve been in contact with film director Richard Lowenstein recently, adiposity about showing his 1986 Australian punk film “Dogs In Space” as an entry in the second installment of my “Post-Punk Junk” film retrospective series to be held at my workplace, The Cinefamily, in early 2010. To my happiness, he told me that restoration work had been completed on the film, and that it had a 2-disc DVD release down in Australia a few months ago! Now, if it would only have an American release –

The film features a TON of great Aussie late ’70s post-punk, and here’s the expanded version of the soundtrack album, featuring stuff by Primitive Calculators, Ollie Olsen, and The Boys Next Door (who eventually became The Birthday Party) — as well as Iggy Pop’s “Endless Sea”, which plays almost in its entirety during the best scene in the film.
