VARIOUS ARTISTS – “YOU’RE SOAKING IN IT: THE SOUNDS AND SMELLS OF LOAD RECORDS” (1997)
Load Records, along with GSL, Three One G and Gravity, has long been one of the gatekeepers of epic indie skronk. While the other three labels I’ve just mentioned have all now come and gone, Load miraculously keeps going, although I’m not sure if they’ve put out more than a handful of releases in ’08. Home to Lightning Bolt, USA Is A Monster and now Andrew W.K., the label is based in Providence, RI, and has been seriously vital since its inception in ’93.
“You’re Soaking In It” was a label sampler from a little over ten years ago, featuring Arab on Radar, Lightning Bolt, Landed, Dropdead, and side projects from members of Six Finger Satellite, Men’s Recovery Project and Thee Hydrogen Terrors, among others.
Not my cup of tea, but some interesting sounds I’ve never heard before. Liked Mr. Brinkman, Childkraft the most. Thanks.

great mix of music. ive been into dropdead and lightning bolt for quite sometime. Lightning Bolt is one of the best live bands ever. loudest too.
