MINERS’ BENEFIT

VARIOUS ARTISTS – “MINERS’ BENEFIT” (1993)

Pretty good live album featuring UXA, The Sleepers, Negative Trend and an an early incarnation of the great Tuxedomoon — recorded at the Mabuhay Gardens, San Francisco, March 21st, 1978.

I first caught wind of it years ago, and for some reason promptly filed it away in my library without returning to it until recently, when an ECR reader asked if I had any Tuxedomoon rarities.

I’m not as big a fan of the Sleepers stuff, though, as some people. To me, they sound like incomprehensible slop when compared to other first-wave San Francisco stuff.

Wow, cool post. I saw Tuxedo Moon open up for the Psychedelic Furs (I think) at the old 9:30 Club in Washington DC and they were excellent
