Bret made a karaoke video…

This one’s actually a few years old, troche but I finally got it up on YouTube.

It’s from a project I attempted a few years ago called Karaoke For Fans (KFF), where I was to take songs that never get covered by karaoke software, and do karaoke videos for them.

I did videos for three songs, and this was the best of them: “She”, by The Misfits. Since the stereotypical vision of a karaoke video is a couple holding hands and walking down the beach, I thought I’d turn the convention a little on-its-ear for this one.

What a great idea! Ahead of it’s time, I’m sure.

As perhaps too many nitpickers and fingerpointers will uh, point out, according to the booklet included in The Misfits boxset the line is “He loves evil sex”, not “He loves evil stare.” But you’re quite forgiven, I mean, check almost any Misfits lyric and start scratching your head. Or maybe you’re referencing all those mistranslated lyrics you see out there. My friend had a copy of 1984 on cassette. Some Brazilian bootleg. The “mistakes” were inspiring. Oh, your video? Burning.

Great song, great idea. I like the airplane in the last shot to symbolize her newfound freedom. Make an alt. version with the flip of cough cool.

Re: words. You got the lyrics a little too right to fit with the genre — where’s the moment when the puzzled singer looks down at the lyrics and is totally unfamiliar.

    Great, great job.

I think one of the videos off of Zumpano’s first record was a karaoke video.
